Things escalated and the next thing you know, the group of drunken stooges start kicking the taxi vehicle with one jumping on its roof. After he had had enough of the abuse, the taxi driver decided to get the hell out of there regardless of whether any of the stooges stood in the way of his vehicle or not. A 23 year old man was run over and is in a Montreal hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Plus it was the stooges who started the abuse. 난 그놈들에 대해서 잘 알지모르지만, 내 생각에는 그 술취한 놈들은 이번 사건의 경우엔 완전 개새끼(shit rivet)들이었던 것처럼 보인다. 술에 취한 상태로, 택시를 잡고, 목적지에 도착했는데, 택시요금이 너무 많이 나왔던 것 같다. 캐나다 택시는 미터(meter)기를 써서 요금을 징수하므로, 요금이 박아지 요금은 아니었을 것 같다. 더불어서 실랑이를 시작한 놈은 그 승객들이었다. Unfortunately, things are not always fair in Canada. Law often protects the offender more than the victim. Mostbies I know are decent people. They came from abroad, don’t speak much English (or in case of Quebec R11; French) very well, but try hard to earn a living with honest work. Instead of spending evenings with their kids, these men plow the streets at night looking to make an honest dollar. 그렇지만 불행하게도 캐나다에는 항상 정의가 이기는 것은 아닌 것 같다. 법이란 가끔 피해자 보다는 가해자를 보호하곤 한다. 내가 아는 캐나다 택시 기사들은 다들 괜찮고 착한 사람들이었다. 그들은 해외에서 이민을 와, 영어도 잘 못하고, 퀘벡 같은 경우 프랑스어를 잘 못하고, 그렇지만 먹고 살기위해서 열심히 일하는 사람들이다. 집에가서 아이들과 저녁을 보내는 대신에 몇푼이라도 더 벌기 위해서 손님을 찾아 거리를 헤매는 사람들이다. I have no problem with people who immigrate to Canada and add to the economy, instead of taking from it. If you come from abroad but roll up your sleeves to earn a living with honest work, you are a decent contribution to the country. Unlike whiners who receive asylum status in exchange for whining and instead of contributing to the economy, come here to live for free off of government support money. 난 캐나다에 외국인들이 이민와서 캐나다 정부로 부터 정부돈을 먹는것 대신에 캐나다 경제에 보탬이 되는 것에 대해서 불만이 없다. 만약에 당신이 외국에서 이민을 와서 먹고살기 위해서 손에 땀을 흘려가면서 열심히 일한다면 당신은 캐나다 경제에 보탬이 되는 사람이다. 그에 반해서, 국가에 보탬이 되는 대신에, 힘들고 배고프다고 징징짜면서 보호대상자가 되고 싶은 사람은, 캐나다에 와서, 정부가 제공해주는 돈 먹으면서 살아도 된다. Sadly, Canadian government makes it incredibly difficult for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada, requiring tons of paperwork and endless waiting times and when eventually here, many skilled workers can’t apply themselves in their field of expertise because their credentials are not recognized. It’s often doctors who can’t practise medicine because their education was gained from an institution not on the list of recognized universities. These doctors are forced to take on such jobs as taxi driving to survive until their credentials are cleared, which is never a simple task. 불행하게도 캐나다정부는 능력있는 기술자들이 캐나다에 이민오게 하는데는 더럽게 방해가 되는 것 같다. 수많은 서류도 준비하라고 하고, 끝없기 기다리게 하고, 결국에 이민을 오면 그즉시 자신의 전문분야에서 일하는것도 불가능하다. 왜냐하면 그 기술자들이 제출했던 서류들이란 것이 모두모두 캐나다 정부가 인정한 것이 아니기 때문이다. 이민 온 의사들도 즉각적으로 의사일을 할 수 없는 경우가 많은데 이유는, 그가 교육받았던 교육기관이 캐나다 정부가 인정을 해주는 그런 교육기관이 아닐 수 있기 때문이다. 이렇게 되면 그 의사들은 그 교육기관이 캐나다 정부가 인정해 줄 때까지는 택시운전사 같은 직업을 하면서 살아야 하는데, 그런데 그렇게 캐나다 정부가 인정해 주는 것이 또 그다지 만만치 않다는 것이 문제다. Yeah, that’s the way it is in my homeland. People who come here on a plane and ready to get to work are given hard time. But come here on a boat and whining and you’ll be provided with a free house and all expenses paid by the government. All well! 어쩄든,이게 지금 내가사는 캐나다의 실정이다. 캐나다에 도착해서 즉각 일할수 있는 능력있는 그런 사람들은 이런식으로 어려움을겪고 있다. 하지만, 캐나다오 오거라, 와서 못살겠다고 우는소리 징징해대면, 캐나다 정부는 살집도 주고, 사는데 필요한 돈도 캐나다 정부가 줄테니깐. 잘하는 짓이다.
