Federal supervision

 The most important governmental control of large American 
enterprises occurs with respect to their capitalization in the 
form of share capital. the offer of shares of stock on public
 exchanges is supervised by the Securities and Exchange Commission 
on the basic of the strict provisions of the Securities Act of 1993 and
 the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934. The federal legislation has 
served as a model for similar legislation in the states, known as 
"blue sky laws."
