Evening bells, evening bells

How many a stroy you`ve got to tell

Of youth and home and that sweet time

When last I heard your soothing chime

 

Those lovely days they are past away

And many a heart that then was gay

Within the tomb now darkly dwells

And no more to hear evening bells

 

And so it will be when I am gone

That tunefull sound will still ring on

While other bards will walk with these bells

And sing your praise sweet evening bells
