Richard Clarke, Former Counterterrorism Chief, Apologizes for 9/11
I welcome these hearings because of the opportunity that they provide to the American people to better understand why the tragedy of 9/11 happened and what we must do to prevent a re-occurrence. 저는 이번 청문회가 우리 미국인들이 왜 911 비극이 발생했는지, 어떻게 재발을 막을 수 있는지 보다 나은 이해를 할 수 있도록 기회를 제공한다는 점에서 의미있다고 생각합니다.
I also welcome the hearings because it is finally a forum where I can apologize to the loved ones of the victims of 9/11. 또한 이번 청문회를 통해서, 911 테러로 인해 사랑하는 사람들을 잃어버린 분들께 사과드리고 싶습니다.
To them who are here in the room, to those who are watching on television, your government failed you. 지금 이 자리에 함께하시는 분들과 tv를 시청하시는 시청자 여러분, 저희 정부가 국민을 실망시켜 드렸습니다.
Those entrusted with protecting you failed you. 국민을 지켜야 하는 저희들이 실패하였습니다.
And I failed you. 저 또한 마찬가지였습니다.
We tried hard, but that doesn't matter because we failed. 저희는 열심히 노력했지만, 실패했기 때문에 아무 의미가 없습니다.
