Police arrested a 37-year-old man surnamed Lee on charges of stabbing an acquaintance to death, a spokesman said Friday.
Lee killed a 53-year-old man, a day laborer, to retaliate the attacks the latter made on him when they drank together on Dec. 24 last year, the spokesman said.
He went to the laborer’s house in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and killed him.
Lee became friends with the unnamed man when they lived together in a “goshiwon” two years ago.
After the murder, he called “119” and asked officials to send firefighters who could handle the body of the laborer, the spokesman said.
Police traced the man who called 119. During questioning, Lee said he could not remember the murder as he was intoxicated at that time.
The laborer was found dead on the next day by one of his friends, who had called him, but got no reply. He went to his house and found him dead, and reported it to police.
