Suddenly, like magic, she understood. The cold wetness had a name; everything had a name. Her father had a smudge on his face. Helen pointed to herself.
3."Yes, you have a name, too," Annie said gently. And slowly she spelled H-E-L-E-N into the child's waiting hand.
