suspended coffee

이 이야기는 추운 겨울날 커피 한잔보다 더욱 당신을 따뜻하게 해줄 거임

We enter a little coffeehouse with a friend of mine and give our order. While we're aproaching our table two people come in and they go to the counter :

친구 한넘과 쪼그만 커피샵에 들어가 주문을 함. 우리가 자리를 찾아가는 동안 두명이 들어와서 카운터로 감:
'Five coffees, please. Two of them for us and three suspended'

'커피 다섯잔요. 둘은 우리꺼. 세개는 유예해주셈'
They pay for their order, take the two and leave. I ask my friend:

걔네는 계산을 하고, 두잔만 달랑 들고 나감. 친구에게 물어봄:
'What are those 'suspended' coffees ?'

'저 '유예' 커피란 게 머임?'
'Wait for it and you will see'

'기다려보믄 알거임'
Some more people enter. Two girls ask for one coffee each, pay and go. The next order was for seven coffees and it was made by three lawyers - three for them and

몇명이 더 들어옴. 여자애 둘이 각각 한잔씩 시켜서 계산하고 감. 다음 주문은 변호사 셋이서 7잔 시킴-3잔은 지들꺼, 4잔은 '유예'.

'유예커피 좀 있수?'

It's simple - people pay in advance for a coffee meant for someone who can not afford a warm bevarage. The tradition with the suspended coffees started in Naples,

간단함-사람들은 따뜻한 음료를 사먹을 수 없는 누군가를 위해 커피값을 미리 내는 거였음. 유예커피라는 이 풍습은 나폴리에서 시작됐지만,

but it has spread all over the world and in some places you can order not only a suspended coffee, but also a sandwitch or a whole meal.
전 세계로 퍼져나가, 어떤 곳에서는 유예 커피 뿐 아니라, 샌드위치나 식사도 유예할 수 있음.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to have such cafes or even grocery stores in every town where the less fortunate will find hope and support ?

이런 카페나 심지어 식료품점까지 모든 동네에 볼 수 있다면 정말 멋지지 않겠음? 그런 곳에서라면 힘든 사람들도 희망을 찾을 수 있지 않겠음?
