LODON (AP) — Switzerland footballer Michel Morganella faces being expelled from the London Olympics on Monday for allegedly sending a racist message on Twitter.

Swiss Olympic committee spokesman Christof Kaufmann told The Associated Press that team chief Gian Gilli is considering the case.

Swiss media reported that Morganella posted an offensive message about South Korean people after the Swiss team lost 2-1 to South Korea on Sunday.

Swiss daily Le Matin published images of a tweet from the account (at)morgastoss. The account has since been deleted.

The 23-year-old defender would become the second Olympic athlete kicked off a team for offensive Twitter comments.

Greece dropped triple jumper Voula Papachristou last week after she posted a comment mocking African immigrants.

The International Olympic Committee has encouraged the 10,800 athletes at the London Games to communicate with fans through social media, though issued guidelines on the standards of behavior it expected.

Morganella has played full 90 minutes in both Switzerland matches at the games, and was shown a yellow card against South Korea in a match played at Coventry. The Swiss drew 1-1 with Gabon in Newcastle last Thursday.

He made his debut for the senior national team in May, and currently plays for Italian Serie A club Palermo.
