인생찬가
슬픈 어조로 내게 말하지 말라
인생은 한낱 헛된 꿈이라고.
잠자는 영혼은 바로 죽은 영혼이며 만물은 겉모양과는 다른 것이리라. 인생은 진실한 것, 인생은 진지한 것 무덤이 결코 목표는 아닐지니 흙에서 빚어졌으니 흙으로 돌아가란 말은 우리의 정신을 두고 하는 말은 아닐 것이라네. 인생궁극의 목적이나 방법은 슬픔이나 기쁨에 있는 것이 아니라 오늘보다 나은 내일을 위하여 행동하는 것이리라. 예술은 길고 인생은 한 순간의 것 우리의 심장은 강하고 용감하나 지금 이 순간에도 무덤으로 가는 장송곡은 낮은 북소리처럼 울린다 인생이라는 광활한 전쟁터에서, 인생이라는 노상에서 말없이 끌려가는 가축의 무리가 되지 말라 싸움에 용감히 뛰어드는 영웅이 되자! 아무리 달콤할지라도 미래는 믿지말자 흘러간 과거는 죽은 채 묻어두고 그리고 행동하자. 살아있는 현실에 충실하기 위해 가슴속에 용기를 지니고 천상에 하느님을 섬기며 앞서 살다간 위대한 조상들의 생애는 우리도 그와 같이 훌륭한 삶을 살아갈 수 있다는 것을 일러주지 않았는가. 이들은 떠나면서 시간의 모래밭에 거룩한 발자국을 남겼나니 인생을 항해하는 우리들의 누군가가 난파를 당해 절망에 빠졌을 때 그 발자국을 발견하면 다시 용기를 얻게 되리라 자 모두 다 일어나 행동하자 어떤 운명이 닥쳐온다 해도 용기를 잃지 말고 이루고 추구하며 일을 통해 기다리는 것을 배우자
