What are the seven themes of psychological science ?
심리학의 7가지 주제들은 무엇인가 ?
This book highlights seven themes. Some of these themes traditionally have defined psychology, and all of them guide psychological scientists`study of the mind, brain, and behavior.
이 책은 일곱 가지 주제를 강조한다. 이 주제들 중 몇몇은 심리학이라 전통적으로 정의되어왔고, 7가지 주제 모두 마음, 몸, 그리고 행동의 심리과학연구를 설명(지도, 안내)했다.
1. Psychology is an empirical science.
심리학은 실증적(경험, 실험에 의거한) 과학이다.
2. Nature and nurture are inextricably entwined.
본질과 양육은 불가분하게 얽혀있다.
3. The brain and mind are inseparable.
뇌와 마음은 불가분한 관계이다.
4. A new biological revolution is energizing research.
새로운 생물학적 혁명은 연구에 활력을 불어넣고 있다.
5. The mind is adaptive.
마음은 적응적이다. 적응적: 주위 환경과 생활이 조화를 이룸. 또는 그런 상태. 환경을 변화시켜 적응하는 경우와 스스로를 변화시켜 적응하는 경우가 있다.
6. Psychological science crosses levels of analysis.
심리과학은 분석수준들을 교차한다.
분석수준 : 정보 체계가 이해되고 개념화되기 위해서는 세 가지 독립적인 수준의 질문이 필요하다. 즉, 이 체계가 어떤 문제를 해결하는가에 관한 계산적 수준, 그 기능을 수행하기 위해 어떤 단계를 사용하는가에 관한 표상적 수준, 이 단계들이 물리적으로 어떻게 이루어지는가에 관한 이행적 수준이다.
7. We often are unaware of the multiple influences on how we think, feel, and act.
우리는 종종 우리가 어떻게 생각하고, 느끼고, 행동하는지에 대해 미치는 복합적인 영향을 알지 못한다.
Psychology is an empirical science.
심리학은 실증적(경험, 실험에 의거한) 과학이다.
Psychological scientists use the scientific method to understand how people think, feel, and act. As discussed in Chapter 2, the scientific method is the use of objective, systematic procedures that lead to an accurate understanding of what is being studied.
심리과학자들은 사람들이 어떻게 생각하고, 느끼고, 행동하는지를 이해하기위해 과학적 방법을 사용한다. 2장에서 논의 된 것처럼, 과학적 방법은 무엇이 연구되고 있는지의 정확한 이해를 이끄는 객관적, 분석적 절차로 쓰인다.
It involves careful observations of the natural world to examine how things work. Although most people are not scientists, most people consume scientific research in some form, and to be savvy consumers of that research they must be able to distinguish between "good science", meaning well-conducted research, and "bad science", meaning flawed research.
과학적 방법은 물체들이 어떻게 움직이는지를 조사하기위한 자연세계의 자세한 관찰도 포함한다. 비록 대부분의 사람들이 과학자가 아닐지라도, 사람들 대부분은 어떤 형식으로든지 과학적 연구를 사용하고, 그 연구의 현명한 소비자가 되기 위해서 그들은 좋은 과학(잘 구성되어있는 연구)과 나쁜 과학(결함 있는 연구)을 구별할 수 있어야 된다.
Understanding how science is conducted makes it possible to tell which studies are credible―that is, use sound scientific methods―and which ones are not. By understanding that psychology is an empirical science, in other words, you begin to learn how psychologists work and how you can become an intelligent consumer of research.
어떻게 과학이 구성되는지를 이해하는 것은 어떤 연구가 믿을만하고-좋은 과학적 방법을 사용한 것- 어떤 연구가 믿을 만하지 않은지 말하는 것을 가능하게 해준다. 다시 말해서 심리학이 실증적 과학이란 것을 이해함으로 당신은 심리학자들이 어떻게 일하는지, 어떻게 연구에 대해 똑똑한 소비자가 될 수 있는지 배울 수 있다.
문법을 체계적으로 배우질 않아서 시간이 너무 걸리네요... 더빨리하고싶은데 쉽지않네요....
