팬들이 벤 애플렉이 배트맨이 되는 것에 반대하는 주요 이유는 그의 연기력이 브루스 웨인과 전혀 가깝지 않다고 생각하며 데어데블에서의 그의 묘사는 가히 끔찍했다고 생각하기에 다른 사람을 찾아보라는 것이다.

또한 어떤 이는 백악관 웹사이트에 벤 애플렉을 향후 200년간 배트맨을 비롯한 다른 히어로에 캐스팅되지 못하도록 법을 제정해야 한다고 청원까지 한 경우도 있었다. 이 청원은 공지사항 위반으로 잘린 상태다.

Ben Affleck didn't do a good job as the title character in the "Daredevil" movie, something the actor himself has admitted. But now, Affleck has signed on to play Batman in "Man of Steel 2," and many believe he's a terrible choice.

To stop Affleck from ruining the movie, some people have started petitions, hoping that Warner Bros will see them and fire the actor. One of those petitions has reached 18,000 signatures. The person who started the petition explained why he wants Affleck gone.

"His acting skill is not even close to being believable as Bruce Wayne and he won't do the role justice," he wrote. "He's not built, nor is he intimidating enough for the role of Batman. His portrayal of Daredevil was atrocious and he's not remotely close to an action star. Please find someone else."

Meanwhile, other people started a petition on the White House website, asking President Obama to make it illegal for Warner Bros to cast Affleck as Batman. Obama will actually reply if the petition gets enough people, but this particular petition violated the terms of participation and has been removed from the website.
