오늘은 공부를 좀 많이해서 모르는 것도 그만큼 많습니다..

 

고수님들의 답변 부탁드립니다.

좀 사소한 질문이지만, 밑줄 친 many의 위치가 왜 저기있나요?  당연히 manufacturers를 수식하는 거 같은데,

앞의 large and small과 같이 있으면 복잡해 보여서 뒤로 뺀건가요?

 

2.  It doesn't matter where the sitting takes place와 It doesn't matter where you're sitting의 차이가 뭔지 모르겠습니다.

단순히 '상태'와 '동작'의 차이인가요?  

 

sitting for prolonged periods - even if you also exercise regularly - could be bad for your health. and it doesn't matter where the sitting takes place - at the office, at school, in the car or before a computer or TV - just the overall number of hours it occurs.

 

제가 자주 가는 영어 블로그가 있어서 거기서 공부하는데, 위 둘의 차이와 왜 takes place를 썼는지 이해하라고 하는데 저는 아무리 생각해도

 

그 이유를 모르겠습니다....

that이 무엇을 가리키는지 모르겠습니다.  여기서 말하는 job이란 책을 복사해서 대도시 길거리에서 파는 것을 말합니다.

바로 위의 문맥은 그렇게 복사한 책은 질이 안 좋다는 내용이고 that이 그 내용을 가리키는 것은 아닌 것 같아 쓰지 않았습니다.

 

마지막 4. From farms in developing countries to kitchens in the United States and Europe, a lot of food ends up as garbage.

So says a report from the Stockholm International Water Institute.

Lead author Jan Lundqvist, chairman of the institute's scientific commiittee, explains how food is wasted at the very places where it's grown.

 

위 지문은 간격없이 바로 이어지는 내용입니다. (1) so says a report라고 쓰였는데, so do I 처럼 쓰인 것 맞나요? 바로 위 문장의 많은 음식물이 결국 쓰레기가 된다 --> ~~스톡홀롬의 보고서 또한 음식이 낭비된다고 언급하고있다   라는 의미 맞는지요..

 

(2)  두번째 밑줄친 at the very~~ 가 무슨 의미인지 모르겠습니다. at the very places는 바로 그 장소들에서 라는 말 같은데 the places가 앞에나온 

farms와 kictchens in 미국,유럽 이 맞나요?      where it's grown은 도저히 모르겠습니다.....

 

"The wastage of good - the fact that maybe primarily households are throwing away in the order of 25 percent, or one-third. or something like that, of the food that they are buying. most of which is also perfectly fit for eating," he says.

 

(3) the wastage of good , the fact that이 왜 나왔는지 모르겠습니다. 저걸 빼고 maybe부터 읽으면 주어 동사 잘 나와서 이해할 수 있는데..

 

(4) oder의 정확한 의미는 뭔가요? 어쨋든 구매한 음식의 25퍼센트 ,1/3 은 버린다는 말인데...    

 

The institute's report is entilted : saving water: from field to fork - curbing losses and wastage in the food chain.

 

(5) 여기서 말하는 fork의 정확한 의미를 모르겠습니다...  이 기사의 내용은 매년 몇십억불의 음식이 낭비된다는 것인데, 동시에 음식할때 물을 쓰기 때문에 낭비하는 음식의 양만큼 물도 낭비된다는 얘기를 합니다..      filed는 들판 ,밭이라는 의미니까 밭에서 작물을 기르면 물을 쓰게되므로

물을 아끼자는 게 이해가 가는데 (실제로 이 기사에 irrigation에 대해서도 나옵니다)   fork는 무순의미인가요..

사전을 찾아보니 포크, 갈퀴, 갈래, 분기점.. 이라고 나와있는데 어떤 것도 어울리지 않는 것 같습니다.....

But the Stockholm International Water Institute report says that addresses only half the issue.

 

(6) that이 주어, addresses가 동사 맞나요?

 

Among the report's recommendations are improving harvesting technologies and better transport and storage for farmers; innovative ways to capture rainfall; more efficient methods to process food; raising awarness about wasting food or letting tap water run unnecessarily; and better irrigation systems.

 

기사의 마지막 부분이고, 그 전에 생산성을 향상하고 낭비를 줄여야 한다고 주장하면서, 그 방법들을 나열한 내용입니다.

그런데 마지막의 letting tap water run unncessarily가 이해가 안 되네요.   불필요하게 수돗물을 틀어둔다 라는 뜻 아닌가요..? 

제가 잘 못 생각하고 있는 것인지..
