The skipper of a South Korean ferry that sank in April with the loss of more than 300 lives had ordered passengers not to leave the sinking vessel, a court heard.
지난 4월 300명 이상의 목숨을 앗으며 침몰한 한국 여객선의 선장이 승객들에게 침몰하는 배에서 떠나지 말라는 지시를 내렸다고 법정에서 진술됐다.
Survivors of the Sewol disaster have spoken previously of the order, which cost many passengers their lives.

But this was the first time such evidence had been given in the murder trial of Captain Lee Jun-Seok and some crew members, Yonhap news agency reported.

The captain and crew are on trial at a court in the southern city of Gwangju for fleeing the ship, leaving passengers trapped in the sinking vessel.
