woman : 2.2 billion people around the world believed that Jesus was the Christ and was the son of God.
why do you [leave] out the word son of god?
man : because I'm not qualified to write a [religious] book. I mean I'm just not. So we wanted to just keep it
on how Jesus was killed, why he was killed and what he accomplished in the last few years of his life. We didn't
really wanna get into any of the theology. I think it was a smart decision.
woman : [I noticed in Chapter 5] which is the time in the Bible when Mary and Joseph have lost the track of Jesus and
they find him in the temple. That's the first time that we or jesus call himself son of god essentially. you
decide to [leave] it out. Do you feel like that was the right thing to do?
man : Well we didn't [leave] out that he proclaimed himself to be of the Father. We put that in.
But he's twelve. And under Jewish law, he couldn't be held accountable. However at thirteen, then he would've been
tried as an adult for[, put in for] blasphemy. But that's an interesting part of the book because Jesus at twelve was [heavily hinting]
that he wasn't just here to be a carpenter, [that he had other] things to do. So we play it down the line of what we know
what we believe happened, and we back it up. we don't [stray into the areas of "might have been, could have been, should have"]. no, we don't do that.
